ABOUT FAIR TRADE FAYRE

Fair Trade Fayre was established in 2006, after realising what a difference buying fair trade goods can make and how it makes the world a fairer place, I took it on myself to buy what ever fair trade goods I could, mainly tea, coffee, bananas and chocolate. I then discovered that there were many other fair trade goods out there, ie. Jewellery and gifts, which were not so widely available, so decided to set up Fair Trade Fayre and promote and sell fair trade goods myself.

Fair Trade Fayre became a regular at the Manchester Fair Trade market (now merged with the Farmers Market on the 3rd Friday & Saturday of every month, Piccadilly Gardens). I also held stalls across various events to promote the benefits of fair trade and in 2007 decided to build this website.

I strongly believe in fair trade principles and feel passionate about the workers getting that all important fair price, it really does help them break out of poverty and gain a sense of pride in what they do. Often women in developing countries are outcast from their societies if they divorce or are even widowed, and struggle to find employment! Many of the goods I sell are made by women such as these, who are able to earn themselves a good living, and regain some of their dignity, as fair trade treats everyone fairly regardless of sex, status or background.
